Insects damaging your packaged food?
We help food producers and packaging converters prevent infestation with protection built into the pack.
Maize meal & flour
Additive blended into the overprint varnish at printing. This is the route in commercial use in Kenya for 1 kg and 2 kg flour and meal packets.
Rice & dry staples
Pouches and form-fill bags are protected through the laminating adhesive or the film itself, with no change to filling or sealing. Trialled successfully by a large Kenyan retailer for jumbo oats.
Pasta
Discuss the film or laminate structure used for your pasta pack. The treatment route is selected for that construction and assessed on your product.
Laminated woven PP sacks
For bulk woven formats the additive goes into the lamination layer. Available on request for specific bulk applications.
Films & laminates
For converters supplying mono or multilayer films and laminates, including PET/PE, through the film-additive or adhesive route.
Match the route to the construction.
| Packaging format | Route | What we confirm with you |
|---|---|---|
| Maize-meal and flour paper packets | Coating route — additive in the overprint varnish or water-based coating | Varnish type, coating weight and coverage, press set-up. |
| Flexible rice, oats and dry-staple packaging | Adhesive route for laminates; film-additive route for mono films | Layer structure, adhesive system, filling and sealing process. |
| PET/PE laminates | Adhesive route — additive in the solventless or solvent adhesive between the PET and PE plies | Adhesive system, laminate build, intended food-contact conditions. |
| Bulk woven formats | Film-additive route — pellets in the extrusion-lamination layer | Lamination layer, liner, seams and handling. |
Bring the specification, not just the bag.
A physical sample helps. A clear specification gets you to a trial faster.
- Food product, pack size and current shelf life.
- Material grades and complete layer structure.
- Converter, printing or lamination process and sealing method.
- Storage, distribution and target market.
- Infestation history and what you want the trial to show.
A shared packaging decision.
Food producers & brands
You own the product, the brand and the infestation problem. You specify ProvisionGard; the treated pack comes from your existing converter at the same specification.
Packaging converters
You add the additive on your existing line. We supply the product, the dosing instructions and on-site training, with technical support from Adpack and the technology owner.
Institutions & programmes
Governments, development partners and food-security programmes can review ProvisionGard through the TAAT e-catalogues and work with us on trials and evidence for the intended programme.
